Description: The engraving captures the bustling Amsterdam harbour, based on a 1780 life drawing (vivrum delin) by Dirk de Jong, an artist active in Rotterdam between around 1779 and 1802. Part of a series of prints showcasing Dutch harbors, it features the three-masted ship Holland in the center, navigating through Amsterdams harbor aided by a ship camel. The ship camel, a Dutch innovation from the 1960s, consists of buoyant devices attached to both sides of a ship's hull, allowing large vessels to pass shallow waterways by reducing their draught. In the foreground to the left, a large wooden raft is propelled by four men.
