Description: The title of the engraving in English is Bantam, a city located on the island of Java, famous for its trade. Bantam, happy Javanese metropolis, a noble trading city. The view depicts Bantam (today: "Banten") in the Indonesian province of the same name on the island of Java, seen from the sea. Today, Banten is a small local seaport in the shadow of the port cities of Merak to the west and Jakarta to the east. In the foreground are two sailing ships, one under full sail and one at anchor.
