Description: D'Y Stroom en Zeegezichten (The River IJ and Seascapes) is a series of ten etchings created in 1701 by Ludolf Bakhuizen, a renowned maritime artist born in Emden who settled in Amsterdam around 1650. Bakhuizen specialized in depicting ships at sea, naval battles, and coastal landscapes.nThis series showcases harbours and rivers, including views of the Bay of the IJ in Amsterdam and the Maas River in Rotterdam. This etching features a young child, dog and three adults on the shore of the River IJ. There is an anchor on the far right, and three ships in the background.
