Includes reports of Barentsz's voyage to the Arctic in search of the North-East passage, Dutch Voyages to Greenland and the north in 1594-6, and early reports of Dutch exploration in Asia and Africa. Important American content includes accounts of Hudson's first two voyages (1607-1608) for the Muscovy Company of London. The engravings in the text are especially fine, and include early maps and views of what at the time were exotic regions. A Dutch edition was published three years after this first edition
