Description: John Skinner Prout arrived in Sydney from England in 1840, bringing with him a lithographic press. This innovative technology enabled him to establish the "J. S. Prout and Co. Australian Lithographic Establishment." Between 1842 and 1844, Prout produced a series of lithographs capturing the early essence of Sydney, including four notable works: n1. New Government House, Sydney: An idyllic view of Government House seen across Farm Cove, from the Botanical Gardens.n2. Port Jackson from Dawes' Battery: A view of Sydney Harbour from Dawes Point, showcasing the rolling hills of the Northshore, Fort Macquarie in the middle ground and Government House to the right.n3.
